Holigen is a global pharmaceutical company wishing to recruit a Pest Management and Cultivation Support Technician to assist our growing team.
Pest Management and Cultivation Support Technician (M / F)
Main responsibilities:
- Co-ordinating with the Aljustrel Senior Grower all pest management activities on the Aljustrel cultivation site;
- Executing daily inspections and identifying any potential entry points that might encourage pest problems;
- Reporting any vulnerabilities revealed during inspections to the Aljustrel Senior Grower and recommending steps to address them;
- Developing and implementing a pest prevention program which is approved by the Aljustrel Senior Grower including tasks such as sanitizing areas to eliminate potential contamination;
- Compliance with RPK Biopharma procedures and adherence to regulatory requirements at all times;
- Developing a comprehensive integrated pest management (IPM) plan including; bio controls, beneficial insects, natural predators, trapping, vacuuming and spraying;
- Assisting in preparation of estimates for budget of pest control needs;
- Ordering pest control methods in line with the approved pest prevention program;
- Assisting the Aljustrel cultivation team in scouting and diagnosing pests and any other issues that may be detrimental to plants health throughout the polytunnels and outdoor cultivation area ensuring any concerns are communicated to the Aljustrel Senior Grower;
- Assisting and implementing `cultural techniques´ such as crop sanitization, i.e. removal of diseased plants and cleaning and pruning. Developing an approved program to assist the Aljustrel cultivation team if required;
- Documenting all pest control applications/actions including pest activity reports, service reports, trap layout maps, list of approved products, pesticide usage reports and applicator licences;
- Monitoring of agricultural pests including tracking soil, planting media and water quality;
- Assist in the coordination of pest management personnel, ensuring that RPK employees who perform pest control have the necessary training and are equipped with the appropriate PPE;
- Ensuring that all pest control methods, fertilizers, bio products are in compliance with DGAV policies;
- Review and assess DGAV compliance on an annual basis;
- Keep up to date with any new product approvals through DGAV to assist the company with continual improvement of the IPM programme.
- Handling requests and enquiries relating to pest problems;
- Maintain records of any pest related complaints;
- Informing administrators and personnel about IPM requirements in Aljustrel (i.e. training requirements, sanitation, pest control products, bio products storage);
- Maintain an accurate record of pest control products on the Aljustrel site and assure they are stored according to label requirements;
- Perform other duties as they arise from necessity such as SOP reviews and/or translations relating to IPM;
- Report to the Aljustrel Senior Grower in a timely manner any issues relating to crop that can be detrimental to plant heath and performance.
- Perform any other tasks as deemed reasonable by the Aljustrel Senior grower.
Profile:
- Relevant degree/qualification in Agronomy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of organisation skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Good Agricultural and Collection Practice.
- Knowledge of agronomic best practice and all aspects of crop production in arable farming.
- Knowledge of pest management and control
- Knowledge of health and safety industry standards.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a crop agronomy and arable farming.
