We are looking for a Manager, Diversification & Mechanization to join our Leaf team based in our offices in Albarraque, Portugal.
The Leaf function work with our farmers to develop sustainable and cost-effective solution to improve crop yields and processing. They bring about innovation from mechanization and other high tech digital solutions to drive precision agronomy. As an organization we are committed to support our smallholder farmers achieve a living standard by giving them access to agriculture solutions to support greater mechanization while also educating them on crop rotation and other advancements in agronomy.
You will
- Explore, identify, test and lead the deployment of new alternative mechanical technologies/machinery from other agricultural crops that can be introduced in our current crop production and other newly diversified crops
- Define, develop and drive the strategy for the deployment of mechanization seeking at achieving long term sustainability in the crop production. Innovative practices will focus on how to further minimize impact on CO2, improve water usage and conservation, new alternative agricultural technologies in mechanize markets, production efficiency (cost and yield)
- Explore and develop strategy to improve new technologies in the already mechanized markets (Argentina/Brazil/Italy/Spain) and introduction of novel mechanization opportunities/machinery for smallholder farmers in developing countries (Malawi/Mozambique/Indonesia/Philippines/Pakistan/India)
- Develop and maintain the agriculture toolbox with the latest technology available
- Support companywide Agronomy Research strategy in close partnership with Agronomy Research team with the aim at developing a catalogue of verified agronomy practices and seed technologies that enable a sustainable production, meet product quality requirements and regulatory readiness
- Ensure governance and coordination with the regions during the deployment
We’re looking for someone with
- University Degree in technical field (mechanical engineering or agriculture)
- Entrepreneurship and creative thinking to drive global innovation by working with suppliers and partners to develop a sustainable business model and road map
- Strong communication and well developed negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to work as part of a global team , and drive results
