The Senior Agronomist will work within the Operations team reporting into the Agronomy manager. The position will be located Boavista dos Pinheiros in Odemira (Portugal).
The Senior Agronomist will have
1- General Goals:
- Technical Support, guidance and leadership for the Key growers and their teams;
- Budget delivery (Volumes / production window);
- The production of high and safe fruit quality;
- Support and collaboration with AR and Global R&D;

- Agronomy reporting (Technical advisory, monthly reports…)

Qualifications
– Education & training
- Degree in Agronomy or Agronomic Engineering.
- Economic/Financial competences
– Experience
- 5-10 years’ experience in berries business;
- Preferable working in an international dynamic environment.
- Relevant working experience in Substrate management;
- Good basics on plant physiology is a must;

Responsibilities:
Regions and crops:
- Being responsible managing growers located in your region;
- Being responsible managing the four berries outdoor and indoor production;
- Grower support:
- Providing an adaptive technical support service to our growers;
- Help the growers optimizing their production (yield and quality);
- Facilitate the deployment of new and innovative technics and new genetics within grower farms;
- Transfer of knowledge to and from other regions;
- Preparing and sharing in a systematic way an advisory technical report with your growers;
Interaction with other departments:
- Help to grow On Farm Trials to improve new genetic selections performance and ensure their successful commercialization;
- Coordinate with nursery team to ensure a consistent follow up on plant quality and quantity in our nurseries partners;
- Help organizing field days demonstrations and tours to show high potential (new) genetic selections to growers;
- Feeding and supporting applied research and R&D teams with the needed information, to support & answer the business and growers needs;
- Participates in the assessment of new technologies and growing practices that can highly influence Driscoll’s growing operations.
Business support:
- Being responsible for the budget delivery (volumes, quality, window of production) in your region for your growers;
- Being responsible for the grower economics follow up and update;
- Any other tasks requested by management which is expected to be within the job holders qualities and qualifications
- You will be mainly ‘in the field’ visiting our growers. Therefore, regular travel throughout the region (EMEA) is required.
