IoF2020, ACTIVAGE, SynchroniCity and U4IoT are teaming up for the ICT 2018 event in Vienna. These projects accelerate the uptake of the Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in the sectors of agriculture, health, and smart cities, while actively protecting citizen’s privacy. To demonstrate their achievements, the four EU-funded projects will participate with a joint exhibition booth at the ICT 2018 Imagine Digital – Connect Europe, an event that will take place on 4-6 December in Vienna.
The digital transformation has increasingly become a pivotal element in the European Commission’s strategy for generating smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in Europe. Underpinned by its well-established status of Europe’s most visible international forum for innovation in information and communication technologies (ICT). ICT 2018 will give the floor to people who are the main driver of this transformation to present their work and discuss the challenges and the opportunities ahead of the technological revolution in Europe.
This year’s edition of the event will consist of a conference on digital research and innovation policies, exhibition of EU-funded research and innovation projects in the field of ICT, series of networking activities and innovation and start-ups village to showcase European entrepreneurship.
IoF2020, ACTIVAGE, SynchroniCity and U4IoT will be part of the exhibition with a joint stand where they will demonstrate concrete tools and services paving the way towards smart mobility, active and healthy ageing, precision farming, smart cities and security and privacy by design IoT.
With IoF2020, visitors will have the chance to try, among others, an interactive table allowing real-time field management zoning, Virtual Reality goggles that will immerse them into the harvesting operation, taking the visitor behind the wheel. Visitors will also see the field sensors and visualize the real time data from a project’s farm.
ACTIVAGE will show the Active & Healthy Ageing services deployed bringing demos and devices already implemented in real environments. Visitors will be able to try different solutions such as presence, motion, equilibrium and fall prevention sensors, capable to monitor the user’s activity along the day in order to provide safety and comfort both the seniors and informal/formal caregivers thanks to the interoperable ecosystem created.
SynchroniCity will announce the winners of the open call, who will start deploying their solutions in the partner cities in February 2019. The foundation for deployment is the SynchroniCity common technical framework – built on the Minimal Interoperability Mechanisms (MIMs) from the Open & Agile Smart Cities network. At the stand, SynchroniCity will show visitors how the framework can be used in a real environment. The team will showcase the IoT Data Marketplace, where developers can find data from all partner cities readily available in a common format. In live demonstrations, visitors will witness how the data of the participating cities can be used to create citizen-centred solutions ready for implementation in multiple cities at once.
The U4IoT exhibition booth will be dedicated to the presentation of the project and its supporting role for the LSPs, with a special focus on IoT security and data protection. Visitors will have the possibility to discover the various tools developed in the context of U4IoT such as the Guidelines for Personal Data Protection in LSPs and the Privacy Game. Furthermore, the booth will also demonstrate the solutions developed and adopted by the LSPs in the field of IoT security and data protection.
