Despite dedicated EU support measures, regions affected by the transition to a climate-neutral economy continue to face major social and economic challenges. A failure to address these issues adequately risks exacerbating regional disparities and increasing economic inactivity in these regions. In September, Parliament is due to vote on an own-initiative report on the role of cohesion policy in supporting the just transition.
