Reporting Line
The Junior Geospatial Analyst reports to Director of Department 4. Monitoring and Diagnostic
Candidates must have:
- University Master or PhD qualification in Environmental science, Forestry, Agronomy, Biology, Geography, Engineering
- Previous experience in fieldwork and knowledge of survey design and field methods
- Experience in GIS and basic spatial analysis
- Demonstrable skills in either python or R and their use in simple models (GLM, linear regression,
- Good level of English
Tasks and responsibilities
The geospatial analyst will perform the following duties:
- Participate in fieldwork to monitor pests or diseases in Mediterranean ecosystem ensuring data quality throughout the process
- If not directly collected in the field, identify best spatial datasets to support the work
- Analyse and map datasets using GIS and statistics (with R or python)
- Identify models that best suit the data analysis
- Prepare and publish quality digital maps with appropriate and compliant metadata using QGIS.
- Contribute with project ideas to enhance and broaden the portfolio of geo-spatial data services of the team
- Write reports
- In case of previous knowledge, carry out analysis of drone/satellite images ensuring data quality throughout the process.

Workplace
InnovPlantProtect, at the INIAV Elvas, Portugal, in the former National Plant Breeding Station.
Salary and contract
A full-time contract will be offered, starting 1st April, 2022. The contract will last until December 31, 2022, and will be renewed past 2022 depending on further financial support. All the activities to be developed will be subject to confidentiality clauses.
The gross value of the remuneration will be €1.544,00(MSc) or €2.025,35(PhD) (14 month, with 4,77€ for meal allowance).
