Arcadia International is currently looking for an intern to join its food regulatory affairs team. The regulatory team is located in Lisbon but works through a wide network of local legal and regulatory associates who are mostly based in the European Union (EU).
During the internship the selected candidate will be able to dive into food regulatory research to support our food clients, provide regulatory advice on food law matters and take part in internal and external meetings, under the supervision of a senior lawyer / regulatory expert.
The internship is to start in November 2021 with a foreseen duration of 9 months, in accordance with the terms of the internship program of Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional (IEFP).
The internship may subsequently lead to a full-time employment contract.
Key responsibilities of the selected candidate
- Carrying out preliminary food-related regulatory research to formulate quotations for clients
- Performing in-depth regulatory research & analysis to respond to clients’ queries, identifying regulatory risks as well as alternative approaches / solutions, as need be
- (for lawyers) Monitoring and analysis EU case law relevant for the food area
- Translation and review of label artworks to ensure compliance with EU/national food law
Education and job-related skills
- MSc in (food) law, food technology / engineering and/or food safety
- Good understanding of the overall functioning of the agri-food supply chain
- Full proficiency in English and Portuguese (spoken and written); other European languages will be considered an asset (notably, Spanish, French and Italian)
- The candidate should be a team player, willing to work with other European professionals from different backgrounds, have a strong sense of responsibility and commitment, an eye for the detail and a high degree of resilience
