The Organizing Committee of the Japan Olive Oil Prize has announced today the winners of the Japan Olive Oil Prize (JOOP) and JOOP Design Award. JOOP has grown steadily in the past few years and affirmed itself as one of the leading global competitions, with the aim of promoting EVOO of high quality and educating Japanese consumers. This year JOOP celebrates its 10th anniversary with 500 participating labels from 21 different countries.
“In its first 10 years JOOP has become an institution, it is gradually growing with a character and quality. The people organizing this competition and the JOOP jury, composed of professionals internationally acknowledged, are dedicating themselves and striving to achieve the best result possible for the producers” declares Konstantinos Liris, panel leader of the Jury.
As part of JOOP, for the last 3 years, the JOOP Design Award contest has been rewarding producers who stood out thanks to their ability to convey the identity of their product through the bottle logo, label, and design.
Once again this year the competition sees the participation of a panel of internationally renowned creatives: Nini Andrade Silva (Portugal), Piero Lissoni (Italy), Sibel Kutlusoy (Turkey), Adrián Pierini (Argentina) and Giovanna Talocci (Italy).
“Japan ranks as the top consumer of EVOO oil among Asian countries and 8th globally JOOP’s primary objective is to promote and educate consumers on the beneficial effects of this product. We are currently coordinating promotional activities to give visibility to the award-winning oils in large retailers such as Hankyu and Isetan, the two most important department stores in Japan” said Davide Fantoni, General Manager of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan.
JOOP relies on a jury of 9 international certified jurors, overseen by 3 panel leaders: Konstantinos Liris (Greece), Yamada (Japan), Antonio G. Lauro (Italy).
The rigorous selection resulted in the proclamation of the winners for the P.G.I, P.D.O., Organic, Monovarietal, Blend, Flavored categories. According to the scores obtained, oils have received the Best in Class, Gold, Silver awards.
